Overview

The 58th Annual Neurology Update and Stroke Intensive Review 2025 provides clinicians with a comprehensive review of the most recent developments in the diagnosis and management of neurologic disorders, including stroke, cognitive neurology/brain health, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis (MS), movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, headache/migraine, neuro-oncology, sleep disorders and general neurology.
Challenging diagnostic and therapeutic questions will be raised in each session around representative clinical vignettes, targeted reviews of the topic by the faculty and panel discussions. Exchange of information between faculty and attendees will take place during questions and answers sessions after each presentation as well as round table and panel discussions.

Target Audience:
The course is aimed primarily at neurologists, stroke specialists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, neuro-oncologists, hospitalists, intensivists, fellows, residents, nurses and allied healthcare professionals that participate in the care of neurological patients or work in stroke centers.  Internists, general practitioners and cardiologists may also find the topics timely and useful.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
  1. Evaluate recently approved amyloid-targeting therapies for early Alzheimer’s Disease
  2. Assess advances in blood-based biomarkers to diagnose Lewy Body Dementia
  3. Determine when to prescribe the new anti-seizure medications (ASMs) in clinical practice
  4. Anticipate the potential adverse events resulting from their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interaction with other ASMs
  5. Examine the clinical implications of medication overuse for headache and the strategies for identification and management
  6. Assess the updates in headache medicine over the past year, including clinical pearls for implementation into clinical practice
  7. Present the latest diagnostic criteria and treatments for Parkinson’s disease
  8. Describe the motor and nonmotor fluctuations that complicate Parkinson’s disease symptoms
  9. Improve diagnostic accuracy based on the most current criteria for diagnosis of multiple sclerosis
  10. Assess the MRI criteria for diagnosis of MS using the most appropriate and current sequences
  11. Recognize early genetic testing as an opportunity to make an early diagnosis as a familial ALS and identify Tofersen as a promising new treatment for genetic forms of ALS and as a model for future genetic treatments
  12. Describe how EDX results can influence prognostic expectations of nerve recovery and analyze the advantages of electrodiagnostic in enhancing surgical planning, as well as the limitations and pitfalls
  13. Evaluate the role of the general neurologist in the care of patients with primary and secondary brain tumors
  14. Define the sleep processes including sleep drive and circadian rhythm
  15. Characterize new technologies in diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders
  16. Treat appropriate acute ischemic stroke patients with modern strategies that include the extended 24-hour treatment window with thrombolytics, endovascular approaches and antithrombotic
  17. Establish appropriate management of intracerebral hemorrhage according to current guidelines for the management of hypertensive and lobar hemorrhages as well as the role of reversal strategies in coagulopathic hemorrhages
  18. Institute measures to prevent a recurrent stroke based on stroke mechanism and in special populations according to the most recent guidelines and evidence
  19. Assess the potential long-term complications of MNM, including nerve damage, disability, and the risk of recurrence
