UW Medicine 2nd International Symposium on Merkel Cell Carcinoma 2022

It  is designed to explore emerging data that may allow improvements in understand the basic biology that drives this disease, clinical guidelines, and to develop innovative approaches. Updates from the most recent clinical guidelines as well as emerging data regarding MCC biology are highlighted in plenary sessions. The educational purpose of this symposium is to disseminate emerging data and to advance MCC research through a stimulating and collaborative meeting.

The need for clinicians to continuously stay abreast of developments and current standards of care in the field of MCC is challenging because it is so rapidly evolving. Many clinicians are not familiar with how MCC differs from other skin cancers in its optimal management.

This activity will offer comprehensive reviews of the established standards of care and recent clinical advances in the field of MCC management, national cancer guidelines, and treatment recommendations in various clinical settings.

1. Address the outstanding questions in MCC basic biology and how they can lead to improvements in clinical care.
2. Identify the current clinical MCC biomarkers of disease burden and how to interpret those.
3. Review and discuss the updated national MCC clinical guidelines.
