Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss novel imaging techniques for gastric cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
- Identify the diagnostic and therapeutic role of endoscopy in gastric cancer.
- Recognize the importance of molecular markers and ct-DNA in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.
- Utilize recommendations from current molecular targeted therapy and immunotherapies for gastric cancer, including controversial areas such as MSI-high gastric cancer.
- Discuss the role of surgery in treating gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
- Discuss the emerging roles of Precision Medicine in the selection of systemic and targeted therapies in gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
- Recognize the role local treatment modalities (ablation, TACE, radiation therapy) in the treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumors and gastric cancers.
- Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with gastric cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients with gastric cancer and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
