Overview
Orthopaedic oncology is a highly specialized area that focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of primary bone and soft tissue tumors as well as musculoskeletal metastases in other cancers. This complex patient population requires specialized care delivered collaboratively by a multidisciplinary team that requires up-to-date knowledge regarding treatment options and advances in care.The purpose of this symposium is to provide clinicians with a general overview of the evaluation, diagnosis, management, and outcomes of common musculoskeletal bone and soft tissue tumors including Ewing’s sarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and osteosarcoma, as well metastatic musculoskeletal lesions. Additional sections will utilize a lecture and case study-based approach to discuss best practices in surgical and non-surgical techniques, post-op complications, and oncological emergencies.
